Special Cinema: Calamity Jane
The story of Calamity Jane, her saloon, and her romance with Wild Bill Hickok
Deadwood, South Dakota, is largely the abode of men, but frontier scout Calamity Jane (Doris Day) is as hard riding, boastful and handy with a gun as any. Jane's wild promises set her off in search of a beautiful singer to grace the stage at the Golden Garter saloon, but her triumphant return to town might be tainted when she introduces a rival to the man she loves.
Won an Oscars®
As part of this year’s 30th Anniversary celebrations, Foyle Film Festival presents a series of screenings targeted at those living with special needs, such as Dementia, physical and mental challenges, their families and carers.
Films will screen with lights on low level, with no adverts or trailers and the audience will be free to move around, or sing along to any musical number if they so wish. Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits will be served half an hour before the film to give people the chance to meet and socialise, and to familiarise themselves with the venue.
Tickets at special reduced price of £1pp.
“Calamity Jane is pure unadulterated fun.”
