The 26th Foyle Film Festival will begin its submissions process for the 2013 Light In Motion (LIM) Awards from Tuesday 2 April 2013 and the competitionwill stay open until Monday 30 September 2013. This year’s competition is starting earlier due to the huge number of films entered into competitionin 2012, which led to the competition deadline being extended to meet the influx of submissions.
The Foyle Film Festival, now in its 26th year, is one of only a handful of International festivals with Oscar® affiliation and BAFTA recognition. Thefestival offers filmmakers, animators and artists a unique platform to screen their films, network with industry professionals and gain access to the international market.
The Festival, organised by the Nerve Centre, and funded and supported by Northern Ireland Screen and Derry City Council, delivers a comprehensive programme of documentaries, short films and feature films from all over the world; a full programme of educational events for schools, youth, and adults and an impressive array of industry networking events and panel discussions.
Recipients of the LIM Award qualify for consideration in the Short Films Category of the Annual Academy Awards® without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules.
Previous winners and competitors at Foyle Film Festival’s Light in Motion Awards who have proceeded to win an Oscar® include Terry George (The Shore), Martin McDonagh (Six Shooter), Adam Elliot (Harvie Krumpet) and Juanita Wilson (The Door).
Foyle Film Festival is now an IMDb Qualifying Festival, granting all eligible film submissions a fast-tracked title page on IMDb.com
The Three Competition Categories under LIM are:
- Best Short Film
- Best Animation
- Best Documentary
All entries for the 2013 Festival must be submitted through affiliated website: www.withoutabox.com . The cost of submission is £40 for non-withoutabox members and £35 for withoutabox members.
Entries shortlisted for each category will be screened during this year’s Festival which will take place from Wednesday 20 November to Sunday 24th November 2013.
