Filmmaker Daisy Asquith delves into the lives of gay men and women in the 20th century

Commissioned and released to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality, Queerama is a powerful and moving representation of the LGBT experience in the UK.

Crafted from the treasures of the BFI National Archive, the film traverses a turbulent century of gay life, encompassing persecution and prosecution, love and desire, forbidden encounters, sexual liberation and Pride. Weaving in the music of John Grant, Goldfrapp and Hercules & Love Affair, director Daisy Asquith guides us through queer relationships, fears, identity and pride against a backdrop of incredible change.
