Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton) were close friends in their youth, when they worked together at the same magazine. Ingrid went on to become an auto-fiction novelist while Martha became a war reporter, and they were separated by the circumstances of life. After years of being out of touch, they meet again in an extreme but strangely sweet situation.

The first feature-length English language film from legendary Spanish auteur Pedro Almodóvar, The Room Next Door is led by powerful, yet understated performances from Oscar® winners Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton. Featuring Almodóvar’s trademark mixture of cheeky humour and camp melodrama along with heartfelt and insightful reflections on ageing, mortality and the power of meaningful connection, the film was winner of the Golden Lion at 2024 Venice Film Festival.
