Nostalgie: From Page to Screen

Drew Lord Haig (Aidan Gillen), a faded 80s pop star from England, is invited to perform at an event in Northern Ireland. Hoping to recapture his glory days, he instead encounters a disturbing truth that changes everything.

Directed by Kathryn Ferguson, Nostalgie won Best Short Film (Live Action) at the 2026 IFTA Awards and was nominated for a BAFTA. It began as a short story in Wendy Erskine's collection Dance Move.

After the screening, Wendy Erskine, screenwriter Stacey Gregg and producer Marie-Thérése Mackle trace the film's journey from page to screen - carrying a writer's voice and sense of place from short story into short film, and about what had to change along the way.

The panel talk will be followed by networking drinks hosted by Women in Film & TV, the UK’s leading membership organisation for women working in creative media.

Meet Wendy Erskine

Wendy Erskine’s novel The Benefactors (Sceptre) was named Waterstones Irish Book of the Year. It was shortlisted for the Ondaatje Prize, the An Post Irish Novel of the Year Award and the fiction prize at the British Audio Awards, and longlisted for the Gordon Burn Prize and the Women’s Prize for Fiction.

She is also the author of two prize-winning short story collections, Dance Move and Sweet Home (The Stinging Fly Press and Picador), and edited the art anthology well I just kind of like it for PVA Books.
