I’m Still Here is adapted from Marcelo Rubens Paiva's biographical book and tells the true story that helped reconstruct an important part of Brazil’s hidden history.
Brazil, 1971 — a country in the tightening grip of a military dictatorship. A mother (Fernanda Torres) is forced to reinvent herself when her family's life is shattered by an act of arbitrary violence.
Selected as Brazil’s submission for the forthcoming Oscars®, I’m Still Here is the first feature film in twelve years from two-time BAFTA winning auteur Walter Salles, equal parts gripping political thriller and intimate family drama. Based around a tour-de-force performance from Fernanda Torres as matriarch Eunice Paiva, the film is a confidently executed and thoroughly moving tribute to the disappeared and the fearlessness of those left behind.
