Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!

Musical comedy-drama from Sundance Film Festival award winner Josef Kubota Wladyka.

Haru (Oscar® nominee Rinko Kikuchi) and Luis (Alejandro Edda) love competing in Tokyo’s ballroom dance scene, but after tragedy strikes, Haru withdraws into isolation. When friends coax her back to the studio, she develops an infatuation with the new instructor. She must face what comes next as sparks fly.

Combining romantic comedy, surreal-drama and toe-tapping musical dance film (with homages to the classic Dirty Dancing for good measure), Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty! is a delightfully charming, intensely playful and profoundly moving exploration of heartbreak. With the film’s emotional core provided by an astounding central performance from the luminous Rinko Kikuchi, this Sundance Film Festival award-winner (Best Directing: US Dramatic) is a compassionate and exuberant crowd-pleaser.
