A Christmas Carol (1938)

Edwin L Marin’s sincere and heart-warming adaptation of Charles Dickens’ much-loved novella, A Christmas Carol, has remained a timeless classic of old-fashioned Hollywood filmmaking. With its tale of compassion, forgiveness and the importance of family in the Christmas tradition, Marin’s film is a charming and entertaining take on the festive message of goodwill to all.

In one haunted evening, embittered old miser Ebenezer Scrooge (Reginald Owen), who has soured on the world and his fellowman, learns the true spirit of Christmas from three ghostly visitors. After moving visions of long-dead happiness, of past and present remorse and a fearful glimpse into the future, Scrooge receives the chance to change his life for the better on Christmas morning.
