Most independent films are financed from several sources at once, and knowing how those pieces fit together is often what gets a project made.

In this session, executive producers Katy Jackson (Wee Buns Films), Paul Kennedy (Village Films) and Niall Murphy (Treasure Entertainment) talk through how they build a finance plan for an independent feature film. They'll start with the public funders and tax incentives available north and south of the border, then turn to private finance, equity and gap finance. They'll explain where each source fits, what investors look for, and what they wish they'd known earlier in their careers.

The conversation is led by Dan Muldoon of Carson McDowell, who advises producers, financiers, and other screen sector clients on film and television financing, production and related commercial matters. This session is aimed at filmmakers with some credits who are new to the business side of production, and no prior knowledge of film finance is needed.

The session will be followed by networking drinks hosted by event sponsor Carson McDowell.
