FILM STARS DON’T DIE IN LIVERPOOL
Hollywood actress Gloria Grahame finds romance and happiness with a younger man, but her life changes forever when she is diagnosed with breast cancer in the 1970s.
Annette Bening plays Gloria Grahame, an ageing Oscar®-winning actress who we meet in her dressing room preparing for a performance in a theatre somewhere in the north of England. However, all is not well as she attempts to head to the stage, collapsing on the floor in agony. It emerges that she has an illness, and wants to stay with Peter Turner (Jamie Bell) and his family until she recovers. Peter lives with his mother Bell (Julie Walters) and father Joe (Kenneth Cranham) in a modest Liverpool terraced house, and all that Gloria wants to do is to stay in bed until her mystery illness disappears.
Nominated for three BAFTAs.
Complimentary tea & coffee served before the screening to launch the programme.
